Welcome

Hello and welcome to Launch Zone, where exploring science is a minds-on, hands-on adventure that goes beyond the expected and encourages the extraordinary.

Launch Zone workshops emphasize the application and interrelation of scientific principles, through hands-on activities, inquiry, discussion, and teamwork.

Workshops take a "how things work" approach to science. This method not only complements the students' classroom and textbook learning with first-hand experience; it also provides an overview and objective for those scientific principles, and associates the material in ways they may never have considered before.

This often means that students will encounter concepts that exceed the educational standards for their grade. Concepts, in fact, that may not otherwise be introduced until college. But the material is always presented in an age appropriate, visual, and hands-on manner that not only encourages them to participate, but leaves them anxious to learn more, inquire further, and observe the world around them a little more closely.

"Knowledge is only part of understanding. Genuine understanding comes from hands-on experience" Dr. Seymour Papert Professor of Learning Research MIT, USA
